One could say that before the ball started I was the most unenthusiastic guy in the world. The tuxedo felt steamy as heck inside, and my body sweated a lot. Whilst walking to the venue my brain was already set to go home. When I arrived there however, my attitude about the program changed, at least a little.   Seeing my classmates trying to look formal and stuff was sort of entertaining, especially looking at some of the masks that others brought with them. The opening ceremony took a bit of  time to finish, but afterwards stuff moved smoothly. After some speeches and stuff, dinner was served (which at that point was probably one of the stuff I anticipated more than anything else). After dinner was when everything got “lit”. I believe there was some sort of prophecy speech beforehand (or was that after the ball? I’m not entirely sure…) which was pretty funny… and a bit awkward when your name got called. Yesterday was the last day of the first time I got to observe and learn what I’d probably be doing six years from now. Going into the clinic yesterday wasn’t as stressful as the first time I went there (as that was more of me being paranoid so as to what would my situation there would be), it was more of, like the previous days, me thinking of what other new things I’d get a glimpse of or experience that’d help me picture out what I may be doing in the near future. The day went off fine, the doctor explained a few stuff to me, like finding the optical center of a lens and stuff, and gave me an idea of how to translate computer readings into useful information that you can use, and how to write them in a prescription as well. The day flew quite fast after but I believe I could say that I learned a lot during that day, just like the last ones, and I’m really thankful to them having me there and welcoming me. I learned quite a few things during the immersion period, here are 18 things summarizing what I learned during that period of time. 1 Being punctual- Apparently during most of the time of my immersion period my parents weren’t at home (during in the morning) so no one really did wake me up during that time. Something compelled me to arrive early however, (maybe it was the fear of disappointing my supervisor there) and somehow I managed time really well and got on time every day (or at least most of the times). 2 Taking the initiative on doing certain tasks and being adaptable- During the immersion period I learned how to build up confidence and take responsibility for my actions, as well so doing certain tasks without needing to be ordered to do so. One must also be attentive as to the available work at hand or if someone needs aid in doing something. The First Day...technically Yesterday was more of an introduction or the “getting to know the place” part, where there was more of me fixing the papers and our immersion teacher getting things clear with the optometrist than getting actually "immersed" with optometry. But still, technically speaking, yesterday was the first day of my immersion. I reckon I could say that the first day of my immersion went smooth enough. I immersed at the Eye Power Clinic which is at Poblacion, Nabunturan ComVal. I guess one could say that I was somewhat of a nervous wreck in the morning as I didn’t know what to expect from the immersion proper, much less know the attitude of the one that is supposed to be guiding me through it. I fixed a few papers here and there, and got ready to get to my immersion spot. When I actually got to the place however, I realized that my anxiousness was for naught, the optometrist was super friendly and I reckon I would learn a lot from h

The Send off Ceremony... (I like straightforward titles) Apparently I never thought too much for the immersion, much less for the orientations, as I thought the best they could do for me was at least take a couple of weeks off of school (don't get me wrong though, days off of school are always good, come on now, let's be real here) to get my mind off of things. During the orientation, however, I realized that maybe the immersion maybe isn’t so bad after all. During the orientation I realized that the immersion could be a great leeway for me so that I could plan out stuff for my future and visualize what I would be doing maybe ten years from now if I actually picked the job I am basically trying to aim for now. I also learned a lot of things from the speaker though, like proper ethics on the workplace and such; as well as strategic ways to find a job, and how to apply for one (so as to not screw up the screening process and actually land on a job).
