                                                 Parents' Day 2017
Parents Day is a gesture of honor we give to our parents to show our love and respect for them. It can be a gift we can give to our parents for recognizing all the efforts that our parents put in our upbringing. The support of parents is considered to be very important in the growth and development of our family. The day provides an excellent medium to maintain good communication between two generations and helps in building their emotional and mental bond stronger.
During Parents day I was able to fathom how important our parents have been and are in our lives. The importance of our parents stems from the fact that they are ones who show genuine love. A person can expect unconditional love from his mother and father in life. They are the ones who helped us overcome our negative attributes and insufficiency. A child with good parenting rarely fails in life. In many people’s success, the role of parents is the key.  Without our parents, it would be very tough for us to have a good life.

I realized a lot of things during parents’ day, on how blessed we are to still have our amazing parents’ to look out for us and guide us as we progress through life…I celebrated parents’ day by expressing my deepest gratitude and doing my best to show my appreciation for all the things they have done for me. We ate outside after the program and I gave them some tokens that I hope could at the very least express how much I appreciate how much they have done for me in my life. I love you, mom and dad, thank you for everything, and happy parents’ day!

The last day of the first time

Yesterday was the last day of the first time I got to observe and learn what I’d probably be doing six years from now. Going into the clinic yesterday wasn’t as stressful as the first time I went there (as that was more of me being paranoid so as to what would my situation there would be), it was more of, like the previous days, me thinking of what other new things I’d get a glimpse of or experience that’d help me picture out what I may be doing in the near future. The day went off fine, the doctor explained a few stuff to me, like finding the optical center of a lens and stuff, and gave me an idea of how to translate computer readings into useful information that you can use, and how to write them in a prescription as well. The day flew quite fast after but I believe I could say that I learned a lot during that day, just like the last ones, and I’m really thankful to them having me there and welcoming me. Some of the stuff that I learned...

I learned quite a few things during the immersion period, here are 18 things summarizing what I learned during that period of time. 1 Being punctual- Apparently during most of the time of my immersion period my parents weren’t at home (during in the morning) so no one really did wake me up during that time. Something compelled me to arrive early however, (maybe it was the fear of disappointing my supervisor there) and somehow I managed time really well and got on time every day (or at least most of the times). 2 Taking the initiative on doing certain tasks and being adaptable- During the immersion period I learned how to build up confidence and take responsibility for my actions, as well so doing certain tasks without needing to be ordered to do so. One must also be attentive as to the available work at hand or if someone needs aid in doing something.
